What is Web Hosting?

Diskspace is limited on our web hosting to give you clear guidelines on what your diskspace resource limit is. Why is bandwidth limited?

Bandwidth is limited for the same reason diskspace is limited. It's to give you clear and concise guidelines on your allowed resource limits. Most websites use very little bandwidth, but if you are using your web hosting to share files or stream media then bandwidth usage will be greatly increaed. What control panel will my web hosting have?

We use the latest stable release of cPanel for all our shared web hosting packages.

Can other people on Shared web hosting see my private files?

Although Shared web hosting has many clients using the same server each client has their own jailed area on the server. Access is only granted to these areas using passwords, so as long as you keep your password safe your area for you web hosting on the server will remain private.

I'm not sure which shared web hosting package is right for me, is it easy to upgrade?

Starter shared has no MySQL databases, why?

A lot of very basic websites do not have the need for a MySQL database. A domain holding page for example built using simple HTML and CSS doesn't need a database. Since databases are the most resource intensive part of a server we decided to make a package for those who simple do not need one and price it accordingly. CMS ( Content management systems ) such as joomla/wordpress/drupal etc all use databases no matter how small the site.

Can I really have Unlimited email accounts?

Yes you can have as many email accounts as you like. Email accounts use the diskspace allowance on your web hosting package. As long as their is availabe space you can use it for email.

Can I host more than one website on a shared web hosting package?

You can host multiple websites on all shared web hosting packages apart from the starter shared web hosting which is for one site only. Multiple web sites can be added using the addon domain function in cPanel. This gives you a new directory in the public area of your web hosting to create a new site. The new site will still use the same resource allowances already assigned to the current web hosting package, including sharing the control panel.

I already have a domain. Can I use it with your shared web hosting?

What are FTP accounts?

FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol. This is the standard way files are uploaded or download to and from web hosting servers and other internet capable devices. FTP accounts are created with your web hosting package to allow you to be able to login to a secure area of your web hosting and upload your own files. FTP accounts are usefull to create if you are having a site designed by somebody else. Giving them an FTP account will jail their access to your files only.

Can I have streaming media on my shared web hosting?

Yes. Your web hosting is yours to use as you wish. As long as you stay within your diskspace and bandwidth allowances you can upload anything you want to your web space.

Can I store backups on my web hosting?

Yes. A lot of hosting companies will not allow you to have anything on your web hosting account that is not published, this includes the backups. At Ariotek you can store as many backups as you like on your web hosting space as long as you keep within your diskspace allowance.

What happens if I reach my package limits?

Before you reach the limit of your web hosting package cPanel will send you an automated email when you are at 80% and when you are at 90% capacity. You can upgrade your account at any point in our billing system if you require the limit to be increased.
