Default Moving a domain from one account to another.

    Howdy,

I currently have a .co.uk domain on my account for a club that I used to be a member of, the new moderator is looking to move it to his account (also with Ariotek after my recommendation ).

    How easy is this?

Is the account an addon domain or a parked domain at the moment?

It's an addon domain and has an active website.

Open Roleplaying Community is the website.

Just remove the addon domain in Cpanel and then purchase the new account. You will have to manually add the emails in the new account but we can move all the files for you manually or just ftp the files to your new webspace yourself.

The person who is taking on the website already has a hosting account with Ariotek. Is it possible for him to Transfer the domain in to his account and for the webspace/mysql databases etc to be moved to his account?

Its not as easy as that, you could backup the site and then let him upload it after you remove the addon domain or open a support ticket with all the details and I will see what I can do

I didn't think it was that easy but thought it worth asking. I'll have a chat with him and see how best to take it forward. Would be easier for him to just rebuild the website after transferring the domain and me deleting the data after a while but that'd involve various migrating headaches I bet.

Thanks for the advice Colin, I'll come back to you if I want to go down the route of getting you guys to try and move it.

    Colin,

    We have a solution!

JoomlaPack is a Joomla backup component which enables you to move a Joomla website (databases and file system) with some prep work. We've tested it and it works.

We're planning to do the migration at the start of Feb. So we'd need to initiate a domain transfer from my account to his account. Is that done via the Ariotek menu as though he was transferring a domain he already owns or is it something you can do?

Let me know if you need more info and once I know what needs doing I'll raise a support ticket.

    Cheers,

    Dave
