We have a massive reduction on the cost of the Geotrust True Business EV, it has been reduced to £150 from £400 for a limited time only.

The benefits of this SSL certificate are:

    • Premium Trust level
    • $150,000 Warranty
    • Dynamic Site Seal

Server moves are now complete, we had trouble with 2 servers and the IP migration which messed up the dns on the main cluster. I had to redo the vast majority manually which is now just complete. The DNS may not update fully for the next few hours so please bear with us.

We were put in a bad position and had to rush this transfer on one night instead of 3 as planned, I can only aplogise for the downtime most of which was out of our control.

It is 5.30 here I am off to bed ready for a long day tomorrow.

    UPDATE:

Just to let everyone know that the physical server move is complete.

We are having a major headache with the DNS taking ages to update but there is nothing we can do to speed it up.

This situation was anticipated before the server move and so the original server move, as everyone was previously notified, had been scheduled to take place over 2 - 3 nights.

RapidSwitch with 1 day to go until the move decided to refuse us access to OUR own equipment at the times we had stated previously, stating an unwritten company policy that allowed collections of servers between 8am and 8pm Monday - Friday only.

It is our opinion that this has been done by RapidSwitch for no other reason than to cause distruption to all our services.

We cannot give any ETA on the resolution of any DNS as it is outwith our control. DNS updates can take anything from 2hours to 48hours so we just need to sit and wait.

We appreciate that this downtime is unacceptable but we would like to make sure you understand this is a position we have been forced into by RapidsSwitch not one that we have chosen.

Just to let you all know that on the weekend begining Friday 28th May until Monday 31st May we will finally be parting company with our current Datacenter Rapidswitch. We sadly no longer have any confidence in the decision making ability at Rapidswitch with regards to our equipment and our customers.

9We have been testing our new DC in Stevenage over the last few weeks and are very happy with everything they have in place. Customer service there is much more personal and more professional than what we receive from our current provider. Our rack at the new DC will be connected to our new 1 GB switch replacing the current 100MB switch we currently have at Rapidswitch so network performance and throughput will be greatly increased.

This move to the new DC is a physical move of all our equipment so will require a couple of hours downtime while we move the servers. The plan is to move half the servers at midnight on Friday 28th May and the rest of the servers at midnight on Saturday 29th May. Downtime is expected to be approx 2 hours.

We will post in the forums which servers are being moved on which night as soon as we decide the best order to do it and as always we will keep you updated live via the forum on how the move is going.

This move will also require the changing of our full IP range. Anyone with custom nameservers or any IP specific DNS entries give us a shout in advance and we will assign you new IPs before we move.

Feel free to comment or ask questions.

We have moved or support system to the internal support ticket system with WHMCS and also the DWmail system to Roundcube. The reasons for this are simple we have had PCI compliance on our server for some months but lately both DwMail and Kayako are being denied because of cross scripting vulnerabilities therefore we opted to move software.

We will have a new live chat system up shortly with the old Kayako system being removed completely. If in the future either Kayako or DWmail get their act together and fix these vulnerabilities then we may move back.

If any customer can point us in the direction of any other good email webmail solutions then we will test and implement if succesful.

We have upgraded the forums and added some new funtionality which we will be telling you about over the coming days. First of all we are using Vbulletin 4 the complete publishing suite and adding back things like the Arcade, shoutbox, etc.

There will no doubt be some bugs and permission issues as it was a full upgrade and it did break some mods that were on the old forums. If you see any bugs then please post in the comments and we wiil fix as we go along.

Just a quick notice to let everyone know of a few pending and completed updates.

    Pending..

On Thursday 18th March 2010 at approx 10am we will be suspending our forums while we upgrade the vBulletin forum software to the latest version.

Due to the amount of customisation on our current forum we expect this to take all day.

    Completed..

    Dedicated Servers.

    http://ariotek.co.uk/hosting/dedicated-servers

We have added a page to our site which now shows our current stock of dedicated servers and the prices associated with them.

Most of these servers are already active as Dedicated servers in the Datacenter in London but a few are still here in our office ready to be customised.

We will add more servers to this page in the near future as and when we build them.

    File/FTP Hosting

    http://ariotek.co.uk/hosting/fileftp-hosting

This new page just gives face to a service we have offered for a while but have never published on the site.

This available FTP space can NOT be used as extra hosting space. Its simply an area to store any media or files you want to backup online.

Most people who use this service currently use it to store automatic nightly backups of their own website, something which we can setup for you.

    Tutorial Section

    http://ariotek.co.uk/support/video-tutorials

In our support section we have added a new video tutorials area.

These tutorials cover the cPanel, WHMCS, WHM, Fantastico, Joomla and Wordpress basics.

We will add more tutorials in future if these ones prove useful.
